We’ve had Holly since 2024 and it’s fair to say that she has magical powers!
We lost our previous daxi Bailey in April of last year and it broke us. Bailey was far more than just a family pet, he was the third member of our family of three. His absence left a silence in our house which we weren’t sure could ever be filled.
Then came Holly… we were captivated the moment we saw her adoption profile – with her giant paws, her beautiful markings and cute (but, as we’ve since learnt, largely decorative) ears. We knew Holly was the little soul for us. As we applied we were filled with nervous excitement, knowing that while we would be the perfect pawrents for her, there were likely a lot of other wonderful potential adopters. A period of checking our inboxes regularly followed, then once we found out we had been selected for an interview, things couldn’t have gone more smoothly.
Ready with answers as to why we could be trusted and would make suitable adopters, we joined the VC chat, but immediately forgot all that as we were put at such ease. The conversation just flowed and having mentally prepared for what we thought would be a stressful experience, the team from DMT were just delightful. We could tell how much they cared for these rescues and was another one of our signs that DMT not only are wonderful people for saving all these little ones, but just were fundamentally lovely people full stop.
Then from the moment we found out we were selected, the support team were brilliant – clear paperwork, regular updates as Holly prepared for her trip and clear instructions for what to expect. Holly is the first dog we have rehomed and we were 100% set up for success by all the help we were given in the months building up to her arrival.
Holly settled so quickly… running around in the garden, cuddling up to us and acting like she’d been here all her life! But most noticeably she brought laughter back to a house that had been lacking it for three long months.
Over the last seven months we’ve had so many wonderful memories created with her. She has her challenges… she still has the odd accident, she’s afraid of the dark (tough for the long winter months) and finds walks in busy places tricky – but we’re seeing her grow every week. She’s making friends everywhere she goes, she has a dog sitter who adores her when she goes to visit, she loves her toys, treats and her weekly pup cup(!), plus she’s made our bed her own every night!
But most of all she’s a magician who mended our broken hearts in a way we never thought possible. Full of love for this wonderful little ball of energy, Holly is a superstar and we couldn’t recommend adopting enough. We know we’ll get her a playmate soon and would suggest if you are even thinking about it, please do it… it’ll be the best decision you ever make!
