Background:
Our handsome, floofy boy Rory is once again searching for his perfect forever home.
Rescued from a kill shelter in Korea, he arrived safely in the UK at the end of November and is now ready to begin the next chapter of his life.
Rory is approximately 10 years old and is currently being cared for in foster in the UK.
Personality and Behaviour:
Rory is at his happiest when he is curled up beside you for a cuddle. He absolutely adores people and forms strong, affectionate bonds.
In foster care, he has been wonderful with children aged 9 and 11, showing a gentle and loving nature.
Curious and inquisitive in the sweetest way, Rory enjoys exploring new places and taking in the world through his nose.
He is a real foodie and looks forward to mealtimes, particularly enjoying enrichment activities such as using a lick mat.
His toilet training is progressing well, although his new family will need to continue supporting him as he settles into a new routine.
Rory becomes very excited when he sees his lead and harness and clearly enjoys his walks. However, true to his dachshund nature, he is not particularly fond of wet weather and may make it known if he would prefer to head home.
Initially, Rory was unsure of his foster brother, Pablo, a neutered five year old male rescued from Cyprus. After a short settling in period, they now coexist peacefully and largely ignore one another.
Rory has displayed some lead reactivity while out walking, but this has improved significantly with consistent, positive training. His adopter will need patience and a willingness to continue this progress.
Rory cannot live with cats. Our usual policy of no children under 7 years applies.
A secure, fully enclosed garden with direct access from the property is essential.
Health:
Overall, Rory is in good health.
In January, he underwent a minor procedure on his eye to close a small gap, which may be visible in some photographs. He has recovered very well and it does not cause him any issues.
As an older rescue, he has had most of his teeth removed. This does not affect his enjoyment of food, and he continues to eat well.
Rory has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
Adoption Information:
-Adoption fee: £600, payable upon confirmation of successful adoption.
-Location: Collection from Leeds. We may be able to assist with transport part of the way; however, adopters must be willing to travel to the Leeds area.
-Rory requires access to a private, secure garden where he can take himself out if feeling overwhelmed and needs time to decompress.
-All successful adopters will receive lifelong support from our post-adoption team.
-Please follow our settling guidance carefully—remember, it can take up to three months for a rescue dog to fully settle into their new home. Patience, love, and commitment are key.
-Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed and home-checked via Teams. All applicants will be informed of the outcome.
There is no closing date for applications. We will close applications once the right home has been found, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible if you would like to be considered.
