Indie’s Adoption Story

How Indie Found Her Way Home

After losing our sweet baby Elvis to lung cancer in February, our home felt quieter, heavier, and full of spaces his love used to fill. We weren’t sure when, or even if, we’d be ready for another dog. But sometimes life sends you what you need long before you realize you’re ready.

One day, while my daughter was scrolling online, she suddenly stopped.

“Mom… this is her. This is the one.”

There was Indie, wide-eyed, gentle, and half a world away in South Korea. My daughter fell in love instantly, in a way I had never seen before. From that moment, Indie wasn’t just a dog on a screen; she was already part of our hearts.

When the adoption opened, it was late at night. My daughter came running to me, nervous but determined, asking if we could apply. We did, hands shaking, hearts hopeful. Then came the interview, and the house and garden check. Our garden has a lot of steps, and I worried it might be a deal-breaker.

And then one day, the phone rang.

“Yes, you can have your baby. She’ll be flying home very, very soon.”

I don’t think any of us truly breathed again until we heard those words. Indie was coming home. She was on her way to us, and to her new big brother, Obi-Wan.

At the end of October, after her long journey from South Korea, Indie finally arrived, our beautiful baby girl, full of love, curiosity, and quiet courage. From the very first moment, she melted into our lives as if she had always belonged here.

Today, Indie fills our home with joy, hope, and the warmth we feared we’d lost forever. She brought light back into our hearts, and we are determined to give her the best life she could ever dream of, one filled with safety, comfort, adventures, and endless love.

Indie, we love you more than words can ever say. Welcome home, baby girl.
